Overview
This article explains how to navigate the Clinical Performance section of Practice and how individual Metric values are calculated from the underlying data.
How Metrics Are Calculated
Data Sources
- Open and closed claims data
- Pharmacy claims
- Specialty and NPI data
- RVU and compensation data from MGMA and self-reported through the compensation form
Cohorts and Denominators
Each Metric defines a specific patient cohort as its denominator. Patients are grouped into clinically meaningful categories, and both the numerator and denominator for each Metric are clearly defined in the drill-down view.

Attribution and Refresh
The statistics displayed on a Metric are refreshed on a regular cadence as new data becomes available, typically monthly, but refresh may vary by Metric. The applicable date range is displayed on each Metric card.
Standardization
Certain Metrics are normalized to support meaningful comparisons across clinicians with different practice volumes or patient populations.
Navigating Metrics
- View Metrics. Navigate to the Practice section of Jiro and scroll down to the Performance section. The clinical tab will be open by default.

- Review your Metrics. The Clinical tab of Metrics load with Metric cards pre-selected for your self-selected specialty. Each card shows your current value and a peer benchmark displayed below. If your value is green you are performing above peers, red indicates a Metric below your peer benchmark.
- Drill into a Metric. Select any Metric card to open the drill-down view. Here you will find the specific Metric description and calculation, a time trend chart, visual indicator of where you fall relative to your peers, a peer comparison chart, patient cohort breakdowns by age, sex, race, and insurance type, and a top diagnosis breakdown. Hover over any data point to see the underlying sample size (N) and additional context.

- Customize your view. Select "Metrics Library" from your dashboard to browse the full catalog of available Metrics for your specialty. From there you can add or remove Metrics, mark favorites by clicking on the star to the right of a metric, and filter by category.
-
Use the filters. Use Latest, Recent, or Complete data recency filters to view different levels of completeness of your Metrics, the time toggle to switch between monthly and annual views, and the location filter to narrow results to a specific site.

How Your Metrics Are Personalized
Your Specialty-Based Dashboard
When you open Jiro for the first time, your Clinical Performance dashboard arrives pre-configured with Metrics relevant to your selected specialty. Jiro selects these from a specialty-weighted shortlist of the measures most commonly meaningful to providers in your field. This selection is not fixed, you can add, remove, or mark any Metric as a favorite at any time using the Metrics Library.
Attribution
Your patients, and their associated prescriptions, encounters, and referrals, are attributed to you using your National Provider Identifier (NPI). Only patients linked to your NPI are included in your Practice. Exact attribution may vary depending on the feature or Metric, view the calculation rules or feature tooltips for specific information.
Peer Benchmarks
Every Metric on your dashboard is benchmarked against specialty peers in your state. This comparison is displayed on the Metric card below its statistic. Open a Metric's drill-down view to see how your value compares to providers in your specialty across the country. Each drill-down also includes a time trend analysis, peer comparison, patient cohort breakdown, and a breakdown by the top five diagnosis groups you treat most. If you practice across multiple specialties, the peer comparison reflects your selected specialty and may not capture the full scope of your work. For more details on benchmarking, see Benchmarking Methodology.
Diagnoses & Procedures
Your diagnosis and procedure mix is derived from your claims history and grouped into clinically meaningful categories. This ensures your Metrics and peer comparisons reflect how you actually practice, not raw coding counts. This data determines which Metrics populate on your dashboard, which Spotlights are generated, and which peer comparisons are most relevant. You cannot manually configure diagnoses or procedures, they update automatically as claims are processed.
Giving Feedback On A Metric
To give feedback on a specific Metric, click on the card to open the drill-down view. The thumbs-up and thumbs-down feedback icons can be found to the right below the Metric title. Choosing either icon will open the "Tell us more" window, where you can optionally select a category and describe your feedback in the text box. While categories and descriptions are not required, they are useful to inform Jiro where Metrics are performing as planned or where they can be improved.

Feedback does not immediately affect your Clinical Performance section of Practice.
Important To Remember
- Peer groups do not yet include case-mix adjustment, so differences in patient complexity between providers are not accounted for. Case-mix adjustment is planned for a future release.
- Your Metrics are based on claims data only. Encounters that were not billed, or services you were paid for out of pocket, will not appear, and billing errors will also not appear in your Metrics.
- Small sample suppression applies, Metrics with a group or denominator of less than 11 will not display a result.
