Spotlights: Overview

What It Is

Spotlights live inside Practice and are system-generated highlights that surface statistically notable patterns from your Metrics. Unlike traditional Metrics, which you select and configure, Spotlights are proactively identified and delivered to you each week based on what your real-world data shows. You do not configure which Spotlights appear, the system identifies and surfaces the most meaningful patterns from your Metrics automatically.

Clinical Use Case

Spotlights surface data-driven observations you might not otherwise notice as your data updates, patterns that cross a statistical threshold relative to peers or your own history, or that have shifted meaningfully over time. They are designed to bring relevant signals to your attention without requiring you to review every Metric manually.

Key Capabilities

  • At least one new Spotlight surfaced weekly
  • Up to 16 Spotlights available in your feed at any time
  • Each Spotlight expires four weeks after it is surfaced
  • Dismiss, thumbs up, or thumbs down feedback on any Spotlight card
  • Badge indicator in the navigation bar for new, unreviewed Spotlights

How Spotlights Are Selected

Spotlights are triggered by three types of signals in your data:

Peer Ranking: Your Metric falls in the top or bottom 15% nationally, within your state, or within your facility.

Time Trend: Your Metric has changed by more than 10% month over month, or has grown for two or more consecutive months.

Specialty Leaderboard: You rank in the top percentile for a specific diagnostic code, procedure, or prescription category within your state or nationally.

How To Access

Spotlights can be found at the top of the Practice page. Practice is accessible from the main navigation bar in Jiro, found on the left hand side of the browser or bottom on the iOS app.

Important To Remember

  • Spotlights reflect fully closed claims data, which typically lags approximately six months behind the current date. They do not reflect recent clinical activity.
  • Spotlights use your self-selected specialty to determine peer groups. Highly focused sub specialists may see peer comparisons that include providers with broader specialty classifications.
  • The Complete/Recent data toggle in Metrics does not affect Spotlights.
